The
Morton Center
The
Morton Center's evaluation and treatment programs are based on the
concept that chemical dependency is a primary illness which affects all
family members. Therefore,
the scope of our services is far wider than just working with the
dependent person. Our private, out-patient Center specializes in helping
families cope with the complex problems of chemical dependency.
Children's
Services:
Individual and family sessions
CHILDREN’S
CODEPENDENCY THERAPY GROUP:
provides children, (ages 6 – 12), who have an alcoholic or addicted parent or grandparent, with a supportive therapy group to help them develop self esteem and self awareness so as to understand their own recovery process, and to deal with the losses and family changes associated with chemical dependency. For additional information, contact Carrie Fraser, ext. 109.
CHILDREN’S
EDUCATION PROGRAM:
provides children (ages 6 – 12) who have been affected by chemically dependent family member(s), information about the effects of chemical dependency and the potentially devastating impact on family members. This program utilizes play and art therapy approaches to convey educational information about alcoholism as a family illness. The program helps the child identify and understand feelings, builds self-esteem, sets boundaries and develops self-awareness. For additional information, contact Carrie Fraser, ext. 109
