The Morton Center’s evaluation and treatment programs are based on the concept that chemical dependency is a primary illness which affects all family members. Our adolescent services generally fall into three types of care:
- Evaluation and assessment
- Intervention
- Individual and family sessions
Here’s a closer look at our services for adolescents, ages 12 through 18.
Adolescent Chemical Dependency Recovery Group. For adolescents (ages 12 – 18) who have completed the Family Evaluation Program, Intensive Outpatient Program or a residential treatment program. Provides them the opportunity to realistically evaluate their experiences with alcohol and other drugs.
Adolescent Codependency Group. Provides adolescents affected by a chemically dependent family member with a supportive group to discuss and actively work on self-esteem and trust building through role playing and peer support.
Adolescent Education Program. For adolescents affected by a chemically dependent parent, step-parent, grandparent or sibling. Provides the opportunity to understand the nature of chemical dependency and codependency with an emphasis on developing coping skills. An assessment session with a Morton Center counselor may be needed.
Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program. An alternative to inpatient treatment for adolescents who are chemically dependent. Intensive treatment is followed by aftercare with decreasing intensity, which helps the adolescent to make the transition from treatment into recovery.
Family Evaluation Program. Provides adolescents who are harmfully involved with alcohol or other drugs and their parents and other concerned persons the opportunity to understand and address the problems this has created for the adolescent and the family, and to support the adolescent in finding a solution to their problems.
