The Morton Center’s mission is to provide treatment services, within the limits of our resources, to chemically dependent persons of all ages and to persons of all economic abilities, as well as to the members of their families touched by the disease.
That’s why we are the only outpatient treatment program in Kentucky with a focus on the whole family…including children.
Here’s a look at the services we provide children, ages 6 – 12.
Children’s Codependency Therapy Group. For children who have an alcoholic or addicted parent or grandparent Provides a supportive therapy group to help these children develop self esteem and self awareness, to understand their own recovery process, and to deal with the losses and family changes associated with chemical dependency and other addictions.
Children’s Education Program. For children who have been affected by chemically dependent family members. Offers information about the effects of chemical dependency and the potentially devastating impact on family members. This program uses play and art therapy approaches to convey educational information about alcoholism as a family illness. The program helps the child identify and understand feelings, builds self-esteem, sets boundaries and develops self-awareness.
