Tamara began working in substance use disorder treatment in 2013 with adolescents and families. She has experience with both residential and outpatient settings and completed her own clinical research project in 2020. Tamara has gained experience in client support, as a group facilitator, case manager, and as a therapist. Tamara joined The Morton Center in December of 2022. Most of her work has been with clients experiencing resource insecurity, co-occurring disorders, and those with involvement in the judicial system.

Tamara plans to help people by holding space for others to feel seen, heard, and understood. She believes in being present and dedicated; empowering others to know they are worth their own work and deserve to be given the time and space to grow into their most authentic selves.

In her free time, Tamara enjoys spending time with family and friends and always has a book on hand. She enjoys time in nature, exploring, and believes all beings grow beautifully.

Lauren received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Spalding University and will graduate with her Master’s degree in Counseling and Human Developing from Lindsey Wilson College in May 2023. Lauren joined The Morton Center in December 2022 with the role of Counselor/Intake/Intern. Lauren has been working in the field of Substance Use since 2014, with a passion for providing quality care for individuals who deserve a voice. Lauren has experience working with co-occurring mental health disorders, trauma, court-ordered treatment, and pregnant/parenting individuals.

Lauren enjoys spending time with her dog Odin and grandmother, hiking, and traveling. Lauren also enjoys challenging herself to eat as many tacos as possible in one sitting.

Eric has been an employee of The Morton Center since August 2022. He obtained his Bachelor’s in social work (BSW) in 2020 and is currently in the Master of Social Work program at Spalding University where he plans to graduate in June of 2023, specializing in clinical social work and addiction counseling.

Eric went to treatment himself in 2012 and has found a home at The Morton Center to give back by sharing his experience as a peer support specialist. His role at The Morton Center is to provide support to clients and to help them navigate through the recovery world by familiarizing them with terminology, educating them on the different types of programs/resources, and emphasizing that our program can help provide structure to give them the best possible chance at long term recovery.

Eric believes that instilling hope into everyone that walks through the door of our facility is a keystone to having the most impact on clients. Eric is energetic and uses a motivational approach to impact people to help them see their own potential and opportunity at a new way of life.

In his free time, Eric likes to spend time with his family, play video games such as Pokémon & Fortnite, and exercising.

Tracy received his Bachelor of Science in Business Management (BSM) from Indiana Wesleyan University and his CADC (Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor) in 2008. He was awarded a Master of Science in Addiction Counseling from Capella University and his LCADC (License Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor) in 2016. He received his LPCA (Licensed Professional Counselor Associate) 2022. In addition, Tracy received his CCS (Certified Clinical Supervisor) in 2022.

Tracy has worked in the field of addiction for over 25 years with experience in: outreach, school based, outpatient, residential, and hospitalization treatment settings. In addition, he has experience in individual, group, and family counseling, and clinical supervision. Tracy has gained experience working with adolescents and adult clients experiencing homelessness, HIV, co-occurring disorders that accompany their issues with substance use disorders.

Tracy joined The Morton Center in September of 2022. As a Clinical Manager, Tracy is diehard Pittsburg Steeler fan and loves sports of all kinds. Tracy enjoys spending time with family and learning new things. He also enjoys fishing and being outdoors.

Morgan graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2016 with her Bachelors in International Business. After a brief stint in the business world, she began working towards her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2018 at Denver Seminary. After graduating in 2021 and spending two years working a residential program, Morgan moved back to Kentucky and began her work at The Morton Center as a clinical manager. She is licensed in both Colorado and Kentucky. Her specialties within the field include trauma and other co-occurring mental health disorders. She believes in giving space and voice to those ready to explore their story and begin the healing process. She often says she respects no one more than the courageous individuals who sit across from her in a counseling room.

Morgan enjoys spending time with friends and family, especially her husband and puppy Oslo. She also likes to spend time outdoors, ski, run and hike.

Amberly Burns has been an employee of The Morton Center since September 2021. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Indiana University Southeast in 2020 and is currently pursuing a master’s degree at the University of Louisville in Couple and Family Therapy, specializing in Alcohol and Drug Counseling. Amberly has over 3 years of experience working with adolescents and adults in substance use recovery, mental health treatment, and crisis stabilization.

Amberly’s role at The Morton Center consists of offering support and resources to family members affected by substance use through facilitating the Concerned Person’s group, provides individual and group processing, educational presentations on topics relevant to substance use, and evokes an atmosphere of change through unconditional positive regard. Amberly is goal-oriented, passionate about substance use recovery, and utilizes a strengths-based, person-centered, and collaborative approach with clients. It is her belief that every person deserves the opportunity for change!

In her free time, Amberly enjoys running, hiking, playing with her dog, and developing meaningful relationships within her community.

Myra received her Bachelor of Science in Social work (BSSW) from Spalding University and her CADC (Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor) in 2009. She was awarded a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Louisville Kent School and her LCADC (License Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor) in 2015.

Myra has worked in the field of addiction for over 17 years, with experience in: residential treatment, case management, and individual, group, and family counseling. She has gained supervisory experience in residential settings working with women experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, HIV, pregnancy, young mothers, and co-occurring disorders sometimes requiring the utilization of MAT (medication assisted treatment).

Myra joined The Morton Center October of 2018. As a therapist, Myra not only address’s the individual’s addiction, but works to find “what’s under the iceberg”; the barriers that prevent a person from maintaining sobriety. These may include: trauma, abuse, mental health issues, or other co-occurring disorders. Myra believes that “If we can change one individual, we can change families, if we change families, we can change community, if we change community, we can change the world”.

Kristin received a Master of Education in Counseling and Personnel Services with a concentration in Art Therapy from the University of Louisville in 2015. Kirstin joined The Morton Center in March of 2019 in the role of Client Retention Specialist. Kristin’s job encompasses a broad range of tasks including manning the Morton Center’s information center, helping clients schedule initial assessments, conducting walk-in assessments, representing The Morton Center at events, and working with other agencies to ensure clients receive the best care possible. Kristin has a passion for helping others. She understands that individuals who seek treatment may feel scared about taking those first steps. Kristin says “giving people hope and showing them that they are not alone goes a long way is making meaningful change.”

Kristin enjoys reading, crafting, taking walks outside, spending time with family, and playing with her kitten Chip. Kristin is known in the office for leaving notes in her co-worker’s work spaces accompanied by handmade origami figures or funny cat pictures. She believes strongly in creating and noticing moments of joy.

Missy is our Lead Receptionist who joined The Morton Center in January 2012.  Missy grew up in Henry County, Kentucky. She currently resides in Indiana.  Missy has over 20 years’ experience and enjoys the interaction with our clients. Missy is well versed in multi-tasking!

Missy loves being around her children, grandchildren and pets.  She enjoys spending time with her friends and family cheering on a UK game, Green Bay game, listening to a live band or just being in good company.   Her preferred getaway is to the beach to enjoy the beautiful sunshine.

Daryn grew up in Florida, graduating from Keiser College with Associate of Science in Medical Assisting. Daryn relocated to Kentucky in 2011 with her husband Pedro.

Daryn joined The Morton Center in 2012 as Insurance Specialist, and in 2022 was promoted to Office Manager. Daryn continues to be involved in the billing and insurance aspects of the practice, among daily operations and is an integral part of The Morton Center. She is well known for her organization, dedication, follow though, multi-tasking, and creativity. She brings her best to whatever task is ask of her. Daryn is also Safety Officer for the practice.

When Daryn is not working, she enjoys time with her family, including her two dogs, Rondo and Angel, and adventuring with friends.
